Turkey is quickly becoming one of the favourite destinations
for holiday makers. It is a gateway between European and Middle
Eastern cultures, steeped in thousands of years of fascinating
history covering Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires.
Whilst the western side of the country has enjoyed high levels
of tourism for some years, it is only recently that the area
in the south and south east of the country has begun to become
popular.
Whilst the local people are keen to draw holiday makers
to the region, it still in some parts an undiscovered jewel
in the crown and is therefore generally quieter and more ‘laid
back’.
The port of Alanya offers many attractions and our apartment
is based in the small town of Mahmutlar just 8km away. If
you study a MAP
of the area you will see that the coast draws a thin line
between the impressive Taurus Mountains and the beautiful
Mediterranean Sea, with Cyprus being only a ferry journey
away.
